Hi, I’m Kim Close
I’m a nutritionist, culinary nutrition lecturer, and functional wellness expert with a background in psychology. But more importantly, I’m someone who understands the reality of making health changes – because I’ve been there myself.
I hold a First-class honours degree in Psychology from QUB and have spent the last 15 years designing, delivering, and assessing courses. That ‘experience’ came with its own challenges – chronic stress, weight gain, poor lifestyle choices, and, ultimately, burnout. So, trust me when I say, I know what it takes to make real, lasting change.
For the past eight years, I’ve been helping people take control of their health through evidence-based nutrition and behaviour change strategies. I specialise in blood sugar balance, gut health, and brain-friendly eating, crafting truly personalised plans using a unique food preferences questionnaire and the Behaviour Change Wheel Model. This isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach – it’s about finding what works for you and making it sustainable.
Right now, I’m expanding my knowledge and expertise with a qualification in Culinary Medicine, which explores how food can prevent and manage chronic health conditions, including mental health and stress resilience. I’ve also undertaken training in Sustainable Behaviour Change, Nutritional Supplement Certification, and even AI (which has incredible potential to support long-term health changes!).
I’ve recently incorporated Nutrivore principles into my client work – a refreshing, nutrient-first approach developed by Dr. Sarah Ballantyne that shifts the focus away from rigid diet rules and toward true nourishment. More on that later!
Beyond all the science and strategy, I passionately believe that healthy food should be tasty, affordable, and accessible. It has to look good and taste good – otherwise, what’s the point?
